Hi, I am Emma
Project manager. Parent. Expat living in Toronto, Canada.
A few years ago, I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary assignment gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Started
Moving to Canada wasn’t in our long-range plans. As with many expatriate relocations, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far more significant.
Those initial months were demanding — new processes, new routines, new benchmarks. Everyday chores seemed more complex than they needed to be.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and plenty of learning on the job. Yet, routines gradually took shape. We found spots that suited us, connected with other families, and began creating something that felt steady.
Why I Built Lumen Orchard Lab
Most online guidance was either corporate relocation tips or shallow tourism content. What was lacking was an honest, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to bridge that gap — practical advice grounded in real life in Canada.
What This Site Covers (And Doesn't)
This site is:
- Practical insights from life in Canada
- Centered on family life and everyday realities
- Updated when a real change occurs
This site isn't:
- Not a tourism authority resource
- Not a sponsored review platform
- Not a generic travel blog
Looking Forward
Our stay in Canada continues, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll keep recording what we uncover.
If you have questions about family life in Toronto or anywhere in Canada, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Best regards,
Emma
